Introducing Lecka Energy Gel 2.0
We are upgrading our energy gels.
This is a typical story of turning a crisis into an opportunity.
In summer 2025, we were faced with a major challenge. Our brown rice syrup supplier couldn't import more syrup from South Korea.
We had to stop some production and couldn't deliver to some customers, e.g., Amazon (which downgraded us in the keyword search badly and it took us 2 months to get back up).
So, we decided to finally find a local syrup for our gels.
After many, many tests, we decided to use tapioca syrup! We found a great producer and supplier in Quang Ngai province, only 2 hours from our factory in Central Vietnam (did I say we do farm-to-fuel?).
Now that we have started to change our recipe, we decided to implement more changes to make our energy gel even better.
Now, brace yourself for all the updates:
MORE CARBS
Each gel will have at least 1g more carbs per serving, the Banana one has even 3g more carbs. Now the carb range is 22g to 27g per gel.
MORE SODIUM
We increased the sodium content to 100mg per gel. Sodium is provided by sea salt and sodium citrate.
NO PRESERVATIVES
We used preservatives in our first flavors because we played it safe. We have removed those now, and all our gels are preservative-free.
INCREASED SHELF LIFE TO 15 MONTHS
As we have monitored our gels in extreme conditions over the past years, we introduce a shelf life of 15 months.
LESS SWEET & MORE FLAVOR
Tapioca syrup has different sugar molecules and hence tastes less sweet, which in turn brings out the flavors of our gels even more. The banana is my new favorite.
1:0.8 GLUCOSE FRUCTOSE RATIO
We have adjusted the cane sugar and tapioca syrup ratios to match the golden standard of 1:0.8 glucose/fructose ratio. Ideal for sustained efforts.
100% VIETNAM
All our food ingredients (apart from the electrolytes) are now sourced from Vietnam. I am very proud of that fact. Yes, it is sustainable. Yes, it is eco-friendly, but more importantly, it simply makes sense. It is a testament to the amazing food being grown in Vietnam.
PREMIUM ELECTROLYTES
We have switched to more premium electrolytes, e.g. magnesium gluconate, which is more bioavailable, aka is more gut-friendly. Less GI-distress.
